Handbook: How to take into account the rights and needs of Roma women
Background: The handbook is intended to support policy and decision makers at donor institutions and potential applicants to funding schemes. The handbook was part of the project: “Stepping up efforts to prevent and combat violence against Roma women and women from minority groups facing discrimination, marginalisation and exclusion.”
Content: The handbook provide guidance on:
- The active involvement and participation of Roma women and NGOs in programming
- Roma women’s perspectives on preventing and combatting gender-based violence
- Targeted measures to prevent and combat gender-based violence in line with the needs of Roma
women
The project was implemented by The European Institute (EI) Foundation and the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Public Security. Involved parties has been the Council of Europe, the Bulgarian National Police General Directorate and Kilden genderresearch.no.
The handbook is written by human rights experts Zora Popova from Bulgaria and Rachel Eapen Paul from Norway.

The guidance is funded by the EEA and Norway Grants. The guidance is part of a bilateral cooperation between Romania and Norway, in collaboration with Portugal, in the context of the Romanian EU presidency in 2019.

Report: Shelters and intimate partner and domestic violence support services
Despite the fact that Norway has a three-decade head start on Slovakia's efforts to combat domestic violence, researchers see a number of common challenges in terms of coordinating services and following up those affected. This is revealed in a research project that compares the role of shelters in Slovakia and Norway.
The bilateral research project between NKVTS and the Coordinating Methodical Centre (CMC) in Slovakia is part of a cooperation programme on domestic/gender-based violence, and is funded by the EEA/Norway Grants. The Norwegian Directorate of Health represents Norway in this cooperation.

Compendium: “A common voice towards a world without GBV-intervention mechanisms and good practice models on gender-based violence."
In November 2018 there was held an international 2-days conference and SYNERGY Network meeting on how to identify good practices addressing gender-based violence.
The insights in different models and mechanisms for comprehensive and coordinated response to victims of gender-based and domestic violence shared on the international conference was published in the compendium: “A common voice towards a world without GBV-intervention mechanisms and good practice models on gender-based violence"
Summary: The 4th meeting of the SYNERGY Network in Prague
An international conference on promoting and discussing ratification of the Istanbul Convention was held 8 October 2019. In addition to the conference, it was also a SYNERGY Network meeting on Teen-dating violence and awareness raising campaigns.
